Polia Station, Pooncarie, NSW
John and Leanne Clothier own Polia Station which comprises 58,000 acres and is situated 50km west of Pooncarie on the Darling River. They are currently running Dorper and Dorper/Damara X sheep.
They have been certified with NASAA for 10 years for organic cropping and, in 2004, certified the whole property for sheep, cattle and goats.
Rural Organics have been trading the Clothier lambs into niche butcher shops in Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide, and feedback is that the consumers have been questioning the whereabouts of these tasty lambs. They are pleasantly surprised to discover that this quality product is produced so well so far away into the outback.
